About Canadian Rockies Guided Touring

There are very few landmarks that rival the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Grand, majestic, masterful and awe-inspiring are overused adjectives used to describe this wondrous topography.

Boasting seven national parks, the area offers snow-capped mountains; hundreds of lakes, rivers and streams; and dense, lush forests. Joining with the well-revered Rocky Mountains, a Canadian Rockies guided touring adventure is one of the best experiences you can ever have if you're a nature enthusiast.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: What to Expect. While the tours may cover different ground, they all offer the following: (i) experienced, local guides who are intimately familiar with the layout of the land; (ii) extraordinary scenery (eg, mountain peaks, valley floors and more); and (iii) a wildlife extravaganza: elk, eagles, mountain goats, and bears are just a sample of the wildlife that make their home in the Canadian Rockies.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Tour Levels. Most Canadian Rockies guided touring operators offer various tour levels, which are based on your physical limitations. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced hiker, or a novice, you'll be able to book a tour to fit your skill level.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Overview of Various Levels. Following is an overview of what you can expect at various tour levels.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Beginner Tour Level. The easiest tours cover easy to traverse terrain. There's little to moderate elevation, which prevents the affects of altitude from taking hold.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Mid Level. These can be anywhere from four hour to full-day hikes, depending on the exact level you choose. On these tours you will scale gently steep slopes. You can expect to gain some elevation on mid-level tours, which can be a bit strenuous. Many of these tours take place on unpaved trails, so proper attire (especially footwear) is important.

Depending on the tour operator, these tours can contain other activities like horseback riding.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Mid Level to Advanced Tours. Break out the sweat. These tours can go up to 7 or 8 hours a day. They include increased Elevation. Three to four thousand feet is not unusual. You will cross rugged terrain, which includes uneven, jagged paths and steeps climbs.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Charter Vehicle Services. Chartered tours are one of the best ways to enjoy the Canadian Rockies if an on-trail experience is not for you. Many chartered tours take place on deluxe coach buses. With spacious, comfortable seating and hotel-like accommodations, it's a wonderful way to enjoy a tour with family, friends and/or complete strangers who share your same interest.

Canadian Rockies Guided Touring: Drivers. One of the best things about a chartered bus tour of the Canadian Rockies is being in the hands of a capable, knowledgeable tour bus driver. They usually know fun anecdotes about the area you won't find in brochures, making your trip even more special.

As you can see, a Canadian Rockies guided touring adventure is an experience you won't want to miss.
