The Icewalk Train Tour deal is the ideal way to see one of Jasper’s most outstanding features in the winter “The Frozen Maligne Canyon” from the ground up. As well as exploring a little further abroad on the “Via Skeena” into beautiful British Columbia, travelling right past the Canadian Rockies highest peak “Mount Robson’.
Enjoy the views of the breathtaking Canadian Rockies as you relax on this comfortable train journey. Via Rail’s Skeena train will transport you along the shores of the mighty Fraser River and into British Columbia’s Robson Valley. Upon arrival in Dunster B.C. On this portion of the tour, you will visit Rearguard Falls, famous for being the easternmost waterfall which the salmon ascend during their journey from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds; and Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,970 feet). Each stop offers incredible photo opportunities plus a chance to get some fascinating information from your guide about the rich history, geology, and ecology of the region.

The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is one of Jasper’s most popular and impressive winter adventures. Your Sundog tour guide will take you to the bottom of the Maligne Canyon – the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park – where you will explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves, and incredible ice formations. You will learn about Jasper’s Maligne Valley, Karst topography, and the mystery of the “disappearing” Medicine Lake.
The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is a great option for anyone who does not ski or snowboard. Participants are required to dress appropriately for the weather. Transportation is included and pick-ups are available from all Jasper accommodations. Please indicate your shoe size when booking as warm boots and ice cleats will be provided.
