FAQ
What to bring for a Snowshoe Tour
Snowshoes are provided. Guests are required to wear warm winter gear. We suggest a winter jacket, snow pants, gloves, winter footwear and warm socks, and a toque or balaclava. In addition, snow goggles are great for sun glare and windier days. The Source for Sports can fit you with a winter jacket and pants. A light backpack is also a good idea to carry your camera, water, and snacks.
Snowshoe Experience
You do not need experience of snowshoeing for this tour. The guides will show you exactly what to do. You just have to be comfortable walking outside.
What should I wear? (Icewalk)
We provide boots, ice cleats, and helmets. Please be prepared for the mountain weather. It changes quickly and our winter tours run up to -25C (-17F). Wind chill can change the temperature dramatically and you will be outside for the majority of your tour.
To ensure that you enjoy the tour, please wear/bring:
· Snow pants are recommended for this tour and are mandatory if it is below -16C (3F).
· Otherwise, on warmer days, jeans / regular pants over long johns are okay.
· A warm sweater.
· A warm jacket.
· A hat and mitts.
· A neck warmer or scarf.
Icewalk Minimum age
Yes! the youngest child that can participate in the Icewalk is 6 years old.
Parents with infants in slings or backpacks unfortunately we are unable to accommodate due to the ability to hinge at the waist and move effectively through the canyon.
Icewalk provided gear
We provide boots, ice cleats, and helmets as core equipment.
Poles and hand warmers are provided on request.
Pick up locations
We pick up from any accommodation in the Jasper townsite as well as some outlier accommodations. We pick up from the following outlier hotels: Jasper Park Lodge, Pine Bungalows, Alpine Village, Beckers Chalets, Patricia Lake Bungalows, and Pyramid Lake Resort. We encourage guests, if possible, to meet at a central location like the VIA Station (Totem Pole) or the Jasper Adventure Centre. This expedites pickups for scheduled tours.
