Jasper to McBride Train Tour‍

This amazing Train Journey and Sightseeing Tour starts from the Jasper Train Station and culminates in McBride, British Columbia. You will first enjoy approximately 3 hours of “Train Time” aboard Via’s luxurious Skeena Train, followed by a scenic bus tour back to Jasper. Upon arrival at McBride Train Station, you will be greeted by our SunDog Driver/Guide and your vehicle for the return sightseeing journey to Jasper. On your return journey, you will visit the town of Dunster, B.C. Rearguard Falls (summer only), famous for being the easternmost waterfall where the Chinook salmon ascend during their journey from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds; and Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. The entire Jasper Train Tour trip offers incredible photo opportunities plus a chance to get some fascinating information from your guide about the rich history, geology, and ecology of the region.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Outdoor clothing and walking shoes suggested for the Wildlife Discovery Tour.

WHERE WILL WE GO?

Kindly note that the selected route is at the discretion of your driver/guide. The Wildlife Discovery Tour is a driving tour with minimal walking.

WILL I SEE ANIMALS?

While the natural habitat around Jasper is conducive to animal sightings, animal viewing is not guaranteed and depends largely on the season, the time of day, and the weather.

What locations will we pick up from?

We pick up from any accommodation in the Jasper townsite as well as some outlier accommodations. We pick up from the following outlier hotels: Jasper Park Lodge, Pine Bungalows, Alpine Village, Beckers Chalets, Patricia Lake Bungalows, and Pyramid Lake Lodge. We encourage guests, if possible, to meet at a central location like the VIA Station (Totem Pole) or the Jasper Adventure Centre. This expedites pickups for scheduled tours.

What locations do we NOT pick up from?

Sunwapta Resort, Wapiti Campground, Wabasso Campground, Athabasca HI Hostel, Maligne Canyon HI Hostel, Miette Mountain Cabins, Overlander Lodge, Jasper East Gate Cabins and any accommodations in Hinton.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is not provided on this tour, please bring enough lunch, snacks and drinks to last the 6 hours.

In a typical summer season there is a café in the Jasper Station and a café at Mount Robson along with a food cart on the VIA Train.

Can we book dome car seating?

Unfortunately, we are unable to book dome car seating with VIA Rail.

Can I do these tours in one day?

Unfortunately, you need 2 days in order to complete this tour deal.

Is there a cancellation fee?

Bookings cancelled 48 hours in advance will have a zero percent cancellation policy on the SunDog Tours Sightseeing portion.

As of June 13th, 2022, VIA Rail has implemented a $25.00 per ticket cancellation fee on all tickets. If VIA Rail imposes this fee at the time of cancellation, it will be applied when you request the cancellation.
