Overview

Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour
The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is one of Jasper’s most popular and impressive winter adventures. Your Sundog tour guide will take you to the bottom of the Maligne Canyon – the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park – where you will explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves, and incredible ice formations. You will learn about Jasper’s Maligne Valley, Karst topography, and the mystery of the “disappearing” Medicine Lake.

The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is a great option for anyone who does not ski or snowboard. Or if you are in for the week, get a full morning in on the slopes and than head into the Canyon for the afternoon.  The Icewalk Tour covers approximately 3.5 kms (2.1 miles) and is mostly downhill. Participants are required to dress appropriately for the weather.  Transportation is included and pick-ups are available from all Jasper accommodations.  Please indicate your shoe size when booking as warm boots and ice cleats will be provided.

Jasper Train Tour – Dunster Station
Enjoy the views of the breathtaking Canadian Rockies as you relax on this comfortable train journey. Via Rail’s Skeena train will transport you along the shores of the mighty Fraser River and into British Columbia’s Robson Valley. Upon arrival in Dunster B.C. (approximately 3 hours after your departure from Jasper), you will be greeted by your guide with a vehicle ready for your return journey to Jasper. On this portion of the tour, you will visit Rearguard Falls, famous for being the easternmost waterfall which the salmon ascend during their journey from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds; and Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,970 feet). Each stop offers incredible photo opportunities plus a chance to get some fascinating information from your guide about the rich history, geology, and ecology of the region.

Jasper Train Tour – McBride Station
Slightly longer than the Dunster Station tour, offered on Thursdays and in the reverse direction!  SunDog Tours offers up another exciting version of our Train Tours.  This train tour variation will have you start off from Jasper in one of our touring vehicles for a guided sightseeing tour and return to Jasper on the Via Skeena Train departing from the McBride Train station.  Similar stops are completed on this slightly longer version of the Dunster tour, with Mount Robson ranking high on the list.  Explore a little further into British Columbia along the Robson Valley with the snow capped Cariboo Mountains on one side, the majestic Rocky Mountains on the other as you make your way to the quaint McBride Train Station.
